Most items on this page are meant to be mixed and matched so that you can put together the perfect scene for your home. Have a family of turtles to match your family, or just add what you like. I have always liked the idea of being able to move things around and add art without having to think too much. I also enjoy art that is made in America and not in a production line. No two items are exactly alike.
I use whatever I can find. In this section I have used plywood, paint, colored sand, shells, crushed shells, glass beads and jewelry beads. I hand cut each piece with a jigsaw or a scroll saw. Then I sand them, drill holes in the back to hang them (I like them to hang flat against the wall, but I drill several holes so that I can decide which angle I want them to hang), I then prime and paint each piece. The fun finally begins for me. I can start gluing the shells and adding colored sand. Then I take them to my decorating table and embellish them with shells and beads.
The sizes vary from small turtles at 3.5" x 4 3/4" to 12" x 15" and even larger. The seahorse is 17" x 8 3/4". I make bases in 12", 18", 24" and 36". The light teal base shown is 12". The bright teal base shown is 18".
